Lighthouses are popular icons, and each one has a unique story. They warned ships away from dangerous shoals and reefs, and helped them find safe entry to harbors. Our collection features four picturesque lighthouses from the east coast. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest in the nation. Its beacon can be seen from 20 miles out to sea, and it has warned sailors for more than 100 years from the treacherous Diamond Shoals, which extend 14 miles into the ocean. The beautiful beaches make it a popular vacation destination in North Carolina.
