A Travel Guide with Eric Dowdle: Sydney

It’s A G’day, Mate, to Explore Sydney!

The following post was first published on BYUtv

Last night, we joined Eric as he traveled to one of the most iconic cities in the world, Sydney, Australia, in Painting the Town with Eric Dowdle!

After getting inspired by the aboriginal art and attempting to play the digeridoo, Eric feels like a proper Aussie himself! So we joined force with him to create the ultimate travel guide to help you navigate all the must-see sites in the land down under.

Whether you’ve always dreamed of going to Australia or are just now catching the travel bug, this guide is the perfect companion to ensure you have an unforgettable trip!

Famous Landmarks Worth Giving A Visit:

Balmoral Water Sports Center (Balmoral Sailing Club, The Esplanade, Mosman NSW 2088, Australia)
Sydney has some of the most beautiful beaches on earth, and to truly experience the ocean atmosphere of the country-continent, you have to get out on the water. Balmoral Water Sports has trained instructors that can help you and the family learn to do at all, from paddle surfing to sailing!

BridgeClimb at Harbour Bridge (_BridgeClimb Sydney, 3 Cumberland St, The Rocks NSW 2000 _) Harbour Bridge is well known and loved by those who visit Sydney, but you can do more than just look at it, boat under it, or drive over it. With BridgeClimb, you can actually climb up it, and what better way to experience Sydney than getting a 360° view of the city from 440 feet up?!

"This is the best view. Ever." –Eric

Clovelly Bowling and Recreation Club (1 Ocean St, Clovelly NSW 2031, Australia)
Chances are if you haven’t been to Australia, you haven’t had an authentic lawn bowling experience. Well, now’s your chance! At Clovelly Bowling Club, you can learn the true art of lawn bowling, all while looking out over the Pacific Ocean.

Sydney Opera House (Bennelong Point, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia)
Constructed to represent temples so as to signify that theater was elevated from everyday life, the Sydney Opera House is the quintessence of iconic architecture and serves as Australia’s most recognized landmark. Take a tour to learn more about the incredible history and tradition of this world-renowned opera house.

Symbio Wildlife Park (7-11 Lawrence Hargrave Dr, Helensburgh NSW 2508, Australia)
It wouldn’t be Australia without all its unique wildlife: From kangaroos and koalas to ostriches and kookaburras, you can interact with dozens of species at Symbio Wildlife Park!

Best-Kept Secret of the Town:

The Sydney Observatory has been in operation for centuries and still serves today as the aspiring astronomer’s dream come true. Here you can observe planets and stars through Australia’s oldest telescope while enriching their understanding of the history of astronomy in Sydney.

Sydney Observatory (1003 Upper Fort St, Millers Point NSW 2000, Australia)

Eric's Favorite Places to Eat:

Vegemite wasn’t the only Australian classic Eric test-tasted; he also found some other delicious foods on his trip to Sydney that will have your mouth watering!

The Cook and Baker (238 Oxford St, Bondi Junction NSW 2022, Australia)
Here at The Cook and Baker, you can try another dish characteristic of Sydney, the lamington, which is a combination of sponge and butter cake covered with coconut and chocolate. Now THAT’S dessert!

The "Sydney" Painting

Full of art of its own, Sydney and its locals were nothing short of inspirational when it came to serving as Eric’s muses for this stunning painting. Check it out [here]( https://dowdlefolkart.com/products/sydney-opera-house-fine-art

My wife and I are new to Dowdle Art and are going to enjoy the U. S. Navy puzzle we received from a friend earlier this afternoon. I will definitely be going back to the website again and again!
